From the paddock to gas in town you should figure at least 10 minutes each way.
I've never had a bad meal at the Chinese restaurant in town--middle of the village--on the lake side of the street.
There's an old time breakfast restaurant also in town--open at 6am.
There's a supermarket at the south end of town (on rt 14) that has decent hot food at the deli counter.
There's Blackrock Speedway, small dirt track about 20 minutes NW of town--don't recall which day--Friday or Sat night.
For following the original 6+ mile road circuit--From the middle of town (on Franklin St) heading south turn right (only turn possible) at Rt 329 (leads up to the Seneca Lodge) follow 329 up the hill wrapping around the Seneca Lodge and follow it (stopping at the memorial to one of the Collier brothers) till an intersection where to the left goes up a steep hill (that heads to the current track) and straight ahead becomes a tiny country road---you want to make a right there, going down into the glen, across the little bridge and then an immediate hard right up a hill. Merge with another road at the top of the hill and follow that over the RR tracks and around a sweeping right curve overlooking the lake, then downhill into the village and a right onto Franklin St for one complete lap. Whooeeee!!!
For those staying at the Seneca Lodge--shortcut to the track--unless you need to go into town for supplies you can follow my directions for the original course but make the left up the steep hill at the intersection after the memorial--it will take you to the road the track is on (in sight when you get to that intersection)--make a right to the track. Much more direct than going into town (downhill) then back uphill at the angled intersection on rt 14 at the south end of town.
Any questions? Have fun -- Dave
