Was just looking at the schedule for the NJMP meet on Sunday, 29th. Instructors in the blue run group will have zero time after student group session #1 and blue run group session #2. The same goes for the other sessions that follow. Can the sessions be broken up with the VSCCA sessions, 944 cup race, EMRA / VS2000 race, etc? This would make it a lot less stressful for the instructors to make it back to the pit area and into their cars in time for the next blue run group session.

We should have the TT events start earlier so as to split the schedule. The race and TT schedules don't leave any time for problems that may crop up during the day. Even routine maintenance will be impossible.

In response to the two posts above I would like to give an
explanation as to why the schedules are how they are:

The template for our Time Trials is based on our most
popular events at Lime Rock.
Start later so that Hotel expenses are not needed.

Same goes for our NJMP events - Many people have
responded positively to the format - it keeps expenses down.
Racers have also responded that they are glad to be able to leave early.

Is the schedule perfect? Not at all - there are flaws as you pointed out.
One of the major reasons for them is our need to share track time
with other groups. This, unfortunately takes time away from building
the "perfect" schedule. Some have requested that both days be a "points"
Time Trial - unfortunately due to time constraints we cannot do that.
Some have requested that the event NOT be 2 points events.
It seems that no matter what we do someone is not going to like it.

When we have EMRA attendance that covers our expenses without other
clubs sharing the expenses(or tracks stop charging from 30 to 40K for a weekend)
we can have more time to make "perfect" schedules.
We are growing - it may not take too long.
Please be patient.

Your input is appreciated and will be kept in mind for future schedules.

Tom. That would mean instructors wouldn't be gridded properly for the start of their session as they'd be out with a student when called to the false grid. According to the schedule the session may even have started before the instructor can go out for timed laps.

You assume that only blue run group is for instructors.
(most of the instructors are - but not all)

To reward anyone who instructs - EMRA gives 1/3 credit
to a free event.

We apologize for the inconvenience the schedule gives anyone.

Since it takes time away from everyone getting gridded
We might separate the students from red and take the time
away from all the other sessions to create a student-only session.
Then we make sure all instructors are in blue group and students
are 1 session in between. so Blue Red Student White - 4 groups.

That might be the only way it would work better for instructors.

Does that work for you?

That would mean less track time for everyone. Why not have instructors leave their cars on the false grid, (they'll be up next), and then return to the false grid to start their session.

I am probably going to add some time to the
Blue group sessions and extend grid time
For them. Also try to put all instructors
In that group as well.

As i said your input is appreciated.

SUNDAYS SCHEDULE WILL BE MODIFIED BY ADDING A
VS2000 ONLY RACE BEFORE THE SECOND BLUE GROUP SESSION.
WE ALSO WILL BE MAKING THE BLUE GROUP FIRST AFTER LUNCH
FOLLOWED BY

RED/STUDENTS
THEN THE VSCCA RACE.

SO AFTER LUNCH:

THE ONLY BLUE GROUP ISSUE IS THE LAST ONE.

EMRA HAD TO PURCHASE MORE TRACK TIME TO ACCOMMODATE
OUR VS200 FRIENDS WHICH HELPED US TO ACCOMMODATE
OUR BLUE GROUP/INSTRUCTORS.

I was out at NJMP two weeks ago and had a lengthy conversation with the young guy that was working the pumps. He basically said if the track is open, the pumps are open. I believe they do cut off fueling at 4pm though.

He also let me in on their secrets - The Sunoco race gas is actually from Sunoco. The 93 they have there is from a place in-town (Millville). He said the blend they have that is 93 is actually something closer to 92.5 octane (he elaborated further, but i forget his reasoning). It can be confusing to see the sunoco logo and just assume that the 93 is Sunoco fuel, but it is just your run of the mill New Jersey blend from the bulk distributors.

Thanks. Don't like driving around with cans of race gas.

I didn't see the first schedule(s) but I wanted to say that as an instructor and TTer I appreciate not being back to back with students. If I do have to be back to back I would rather have my session after the student session, because I take tire temperatures after my session. It also ensures that students get their full session worth of track time.

If adding time is an option, have the student session first and add time to the following instructor session.
