If "They have barely broken ground and think they will be ready in August", why are you so quick to judge the facility/track? Wouldn't it be appropriate to wait until they're finished BEFORE we condemn another potential EMRA venue?

Geeez don't get your panties all wadded up dude. I'm just putting some facts out there. If this layout looks interesting to you then it should go on your bucket list of tracks to visit. As of now there is very very little elevation changes (read flat). Hopefully that will change to make it way more exciting.

As far as clearing the land, grading, actual construction of buildings, laying down pavement & curing on 160 acres of land, not to mention the permits required (that has not been completely met yet) not to factor in numerous other roadblocks that you face with construction projects, NOT to mention the WEATHER ( it has been raining all last night & day here & suppose to for the next 2 days (better than snow). When the snow finally does arrive then any work will STOP. Can't really push around soupy mud with great results.

I have been involved with numerous construction projects & also know the company that is doing the site work on this project. I do hope that this comes to fruition soonner than later and EMRA maybe will have another venue to play in. I'm just saying don't get real excited yet anything can happen & with a price tag upwards around 40 mil the investors (most of which are old) will want to see a decent return on their money before they die so who knows what the rent will be.

Pocono East is flat but presents more challenges than most of the tracks we race at. The hairpin, decreasing radius turns, switchbacks, dips, etc. You want elevation changes...go race at Shanendoah. affraid

I agree. Let's not pass judgement BEFORE work is completed. Evil or Very Mad Maybe you could provide us with pictures when they're finished as you're close by.

I will send updates as I see the progress for you guys. As far as Pocono.... Come on the whole track is boring no matter what configuration you run there. You think Pocono is better than Lime Rock? I've run the Rolex 24 at Daytona 14 times which will include this year and the infield is rinky dink also (ask any real driver off the record). So if your not interested in a challange & just like lapping then this maybe this is the track for you.
Believe me I would like to have a little track in my backyard to play with (it's only 25 miles). I'll get some picture so you guys have an idea in real time instead of drawings on their website

    Merry Christmas

Based on the info on the website, I'd like the "50 available garages for club use",(it's no fun pitting out in the rain at some of the tracks we race at), and the 2 mile track is larger than some we race at. It may not be suitable for your tastes but Tom's looking at tracks to fill our calendar and this one's right in our backyard. I would certainly give it a try. When's our first track update due? Rolling Eyes

Merry Christmas to you too and to all my fellow EMRA competitors. santa

Visited the track today and no change from last time some trees removed and lots of mud. Actual groundbreaking takes place sometime in spring 0f 2012 (March) according to the owners.

Was told today that work will begin sometime in May. Drag strip that was planned has been eliminated (something about complaints of noise) sounded funny to me since there has been no events to create noise. No pictures to send because it's just farm fields at this point.

Checked out the site yesterday and still no activity. Other construction projects have been booming all winter long here with the lack of snow and very mild temps.

The owner of this property stated today that he was still waiting for approval from local towns & his financing was still pending. He was hoping to break ground in late summer and maybe open in 2013 sometime.

Was informed last night that this group has not even applied for their EPA, Town, or DEC PERMITS and a few others as of yet. scratch Also was informed that a builder/investor is building a new housing development just 3 miles away and is fighting this race track project.

Update: Learned today that another problem is that the builders of this project did not own all of the property that they started clearing Rolling Eyes & money was a short. So... I am not sure what to believe at this point. They have previously stated that they had the funding and led everyone to believe that they owned the land. When I find out more I will post.

Haven't forgot you people but there has been no changes since I last posted. Was told last nite by town officials that permits still have not been applied for and word is that money is a problem. Trying to get the state of New York to pay for their dream (like everyone else). Nothing further can be done to the excavating because lack of permits. All I know is that opportunities have been lost with the extremely mild winter we had & this summer so far has been extremely dry. All other construction around here has been going 24/7 year round. More when I hear something of interest.

Latest news in this saga is that the owner wants to put a proposal in to New York state for a horse racing track & casino. Rolling Eyes Now he says that the race track will be in operation in 2014.
